Left foot pain is keeping girl from running fast, keeping her muted, keeping her safe and slow, but safe at least Left foot pain is always there, waiting in the wings, ready to come out and fight a tiger… or just herself Left foot feels angry and doesn’t even know why- angry with the world and with herself Left foot is trying to be seen and understood, talking in any way she knows how Left foot loves to start shit, and back and knee and hip are willing accomplices, like high school girls seeking validation Left foot is angry and scared, believing her pain will keep Girl safe from the big wide world Left foot pain is not, however, pain of rejection, of not good enough, or pain of failure. A much better alternative, maybe Left foot pain is understandable, sometimes explainable, but never enough Left foot pain knows Girl isn’t perfect and is willing to take the fall in order to save the rest. Girl is “perfect” except for a bum left foot Left foot pain keeps Girl from trying, from going all out Left foot pain keeps Girl from flying, from glory, and from joy Left foot pain reminds Girl to be safe, to stay hidden, unexposed Left foot holds tension, gripping tight, can’t relax and just flow Left foot wants control, no matter the cost What happens if Left foot stops gripping, lets go, and trusts again?
Left foot is strong. She can fly without having to try Left foot is loved, knows she is loved, and can finally rest Left foot has nothing to prove. Everyone cheers as left foot powers through Left foot doesn’t even hear the voices, she’s too busy running, and running fast
